Wild Women Retreats is a not-for profit organisation, which ensures that the costs of running and attending events are kept to a minimum. However, we believe that our work is essential and should be open to as many women as possible regardless of their financial circumstances.
The Bursary fund exists as a small pot of money that helps women whose financial circumstances may prevent them from coming to our retreats. The fund itself is supported completely by generous donations of time, money and talent, as well as through fundraising events.
At most of our events we have a small ‘marketplace’ where women can sell their handicrafts and creations, and we ask that 10% of any profits go back into our bursary fund. This is a lovely way for us to support the passions and skills of our participants, and also top up the fund to help women at our next retreat. Our marketplace also includes a Bursary Fund Second-Hand stall, which we invite people to donate beautiful clothes, books, tarot decks and others treasures to. ALL profits from this stall go straight into our Bursary Fund.
We really want you to think of the Bursary Fund as a beautiful cyclical and organic structure of giving and receiving.
Our circumstances can change so quickly, and none of us know for certain what our futures hold in relation to our finances, but this fund allows the opportunity to still take part, even if money is tight. It also gives those of us who are in a more abundant season of our life the chance to give back to others, and help support a community that continues to grow with every year and event.
The reality is that the size of the Bursary Fund dictates the amount of women we can help support and, to an extent, the amount of discount that can be offered. Unfortunately, we are not able to gift full ticket price, but we can offer a discount that can make a huge amount of difference to someone struggling financially. It’s also important to highlight that this discount comes straight out of the Bursary Fund, and if the ticket is cancelled last minute we may be unable to resell it. If this is the case, then that money is lost forever, and cannot be used to give a discount to another woman. While we don’t want this to put anyone off applying for help, we do want to make people aware of how the process works and how important every donation into the Bursary Fund is.
