'Spring Awakening'

Something is stirring. Can you feel it?

As the days grow longer and the earth begins to shake off her winter sleep, we're putting out the call, sisters, the new season is stirring and we'd love for you to gather with us and celebrate.

This spring, we're gathering at Shoscombe Village Hall before making our way together across the ancient Somerset landscape to Stoney Littleton Long Barrow; a sacred site that has held the stories of our ancestors for thousands of years. A place where women have walked, grieved, celebrated and been held since long before memory - here we will gather in ceremony, to honour the earth beneath our feet, and welcome the new season together.

Bring food to share, bring your open heart, and let yourself blink slowly back into the sunshine after the long winter. Come as you are, ready to stretch your legs, feel the earth beneath your feet, and let the land do what it does so well , remind us of who we are. We'll walk together through our ancient landscape, rooted and reconnected, wild and unhurried. Your wild woman sisters are waiting. This is your invitation home.

About the walk

The full walk is approximately 4 miles, following ancient trails, open fields and some country lanes. It's a beautiful route, though do expect around four reasonably steep ascents. If the full walk isn't for you right now, there's a shorter option available; lifts will be arranged from the village hall to bring you closer to the barrow, though this version does still include one fairly steep hill. And if walking isn't possible at all, please don't let that stop you coming, there will be building-based options at the village hall so you can still be part of the gathering, the food, and the sisterhood.

Getting here from Bath

The closest train and bus stations are in Bath. Shoscombe is around 7 miles from Bath city centre, about a 15–20 minute drive. If you're coming by taxi, expect to pay in the region of £18–22 each way, worth sharing with a sister or two. If you'd like to coordinate lifts or share a taxi, why not put a message out in our Facebook group or WhatsApp chat. For public transport, the 172/173 bus from Bath (departing from Devonshire Buildings) will get you to the Shoscombe Vale area — from there it's a short walk to the village. We'd recommend checking the latest timetables on Traveline South West or Google Maps before you travel, as rural services can change.

This is a stand-alone event for a brief meeting and celebration with other wild sisters; and can also function as a warm-up or touch-base for our residential Summer retreat in South Devon in July.
